Online fraud prevention provider ThreatMetrix announced their acquisition of TrustDefender, an Australian company specializing in secure browsing technology and malware protection, on January 10, 2012 for an undisclosed price. TrustDefender’s co-founder and CEO will become the CTO for ThreatMetrix and the company will now also operate in Australia.
Founded in 2006 TrustDefender detects malware, Man-in-the-Browser (MitB) attacks, and other threats. Their clients include financial institutions as well as companies in the eCommerce and government sectors. ThreatMetrix is expanding on existing product offerings with the acquisition of TrustDefender by incorporating their fraud mitigation solutions, which include a solution that protects cloud-based data from malware and client-based solutions intended to stop malware and protect online sessions between a business and their customers.
