Consumer Authentication is also known as 3 Domain Secure, or 3D-S. It is now in version 2.0, also known as EMV 3DS. Specifc 3D Secure programs include Visa Secure (formerly Verified by Visa), MasterCard Identity Check (formerly MasterCard SecureCode), American Express SafeKey, Discover and Diner's Club ProtectBuy, and J/Secure for JCB transactions.
Age Verification is typically used for regulatory compliance in adult, alcohol, gaming and gambling sectors. It is a tool that attempts to determine the age of the consumer at the time of purchase.
Identity Authentication confirms the personally identifiable information provided by a consumer by matching or verifying data elements that are associated with the same person, such as confirming a phone number and address are associated with a name.
MasterCard Secure Code is a form of 3-D Secure Consumer Authentication that applies to MasterCard Credit and debit (Maestro) transactions. Verified by Visa, American Express SafeKey and JCB J/Secure are similar services.
Advanced Address Verification (AAV)
Advanced Address Verification, or AAV+, is a service offered only by American Express that goes beyond AVS checking the shipping address, email and phone number of the cardholder in addition to their billing address.

Verified by Visa is a consumer authentication mechanism also known as 3-D Secure. It is intended to validate the authorized cardholder is the one attempting to make a purchase online.
Reverse Lookups Phone/Address/Email
Reverse Look-ups cross check the name, address and/or phone information provided by a customer against third-party resources to verify the association of these data points.
Email Authentication determines the validity of an email address and associates that email with identity data, such as information on social networking sites and from other public and private data sources.
Address Verification Service (AVS)
AVS stands for Address Verification Services and it is a tool that checks the billing address provided matches the one on file with the cardholder's issuing bank.
Identity Document Verification
Identity Document Verification confirms the legitimacy of an identity document, such as a passport, Driver's License or national ID card, by performing automated and manual checks to determine the authenticity of a consumer provided document.
