Age Verification is typically used for regulatory compliance in adult, alcohol, gaming and gambling sectors. It is a tool that attempts to determine the age of the consumer at the time of purchase.

Identity Authentication confirms the personally identifiable information provided by a consumer by matching or verifying data elements that are associated with the same person, such as confirming a phone number and address are associated with a name.

Out-of-Wallet Checks are also known as Out-of-Pocket Checks and Knowledge Based Assessments (KBAs).

MasterCard SecureCode

MasterCard Secure Code is a form of 3-D Secure Consumer Authentication that applies to MasterCard Credit and debit (Maestro) transactions. Verified by Visa, American Express SafeKey and JCB J/Secure are similar services.

Advanced Address Verification, or AAV+, is a service offered only by American Express that goes beyond AVS checking the shipping address, email and phone number of the cardholder in addition to their billing address.

Verified by Visa VbV

Verified by Visa is a consumer authentication mechanism also known as 3-D Secure. It is intended to validate the authorized cardholder is the one attempting to make a purchase online.

Return Email checks validate that a consumer owns an email account by requiring them to validate the sale by using a link, code or password sent to the provided email address.

Identity Document Verification

Identity Document Verification confirms the legitimacy of an identity document, such as a passport, Driver's License or national ID card, by performing automated and manual checks to determine the authenticity of a consumer provided document.
