introduction toecommerce ACH payments
Covers the ACH process flow defining each of the "payment players"; reviews payment concepts such as clearing times, reversals, NSF, push and pull options, good funds and bad debt risk.
The following course is considered an introduction, and requires no previous knowledge or training on the subject matter.
- Course synopsis. ACH payments are becoming more and more popular as a means to pay for services online. For merchants they offer a potentially large decrease in the payment fees they must pay to process a credit card payment while for consumers it offers a different way to make payments when they may not have access to, or available credit on, their credit cards. ACH payments do not work the same as credit card payments, and they expose merchants to new risks related to bad debt that most have no experience with managing. The Introduction to eCommerce ACH Payments training course is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of how these payments work; the types of risks that must be considered as well as the options available in the market for mitigating this risk.
- what can you expect to get out of this course? (1) Gain a basic underlying understanding on the role, function and responsibilities of all of the potential entities that can touch an ACH payment, including who represents whom. (2) Be able to define the stages of an online ACH purchase, detailing the physical money flow. (3) Gain an understanding on the financial liability of returns and NSFs as well as the impact it can have on a business’s bottom line. (4) Be able to describe the traditional manner in which merchants setup and use ACH merchant accounts, and how accepting online ACH payments effects their operations. (5) Be able to discuss the effectiveness of the fraud tools that the ACH service providers provide eCommerce merchants.
